    A few thoughts

    A few thoughts.....

How does this relate to BBC oil pumps. Can you provide insight into BBC oil pumps.

Also, how does this relate to the 'System One' style oil pumps that use that special "diffuser screen" pump cover?

    And lastly,
How about a quick mention on oil pump 'end-clearances'. Seems this is an often overlooked clearance. In my personal experience, most Mellings pumps are LOOSELY assembled with as much as .009 end clearance!!!!!!! Most people don't bother to check, and will just install them out-of-the-box! EEKKKKK!!!

    BBC oil pump

Does the same apply to the BBC oil pump?

What are your thoughts on the System Oil oil pump that has the "special" diffuser cover??

And lastly, oil pump end-clearances. In my experience, most pumps out of the box are sloppy at up to .009 end clearance. As I understand, end clearance should be .003-.004max. Thoughts?
I venture to say that most people probably just install them out-of-the-box as is. Yikes!!!!!

Unfortunately the engine in my truck was already built when I heard about the problems. It does have the new week design pump in it. X fingers it holds up.

I've seen comments that returning excess pressure from the PRV back to the suction side feed passage sometimes causes cavitation?

Has any pattern that has been detected as to where to opening in the feed should/should not be positioned (intersect angle, size, how far away) to minimize or eliminate this?

Are there specific pumps know to syffer from this, where dumping the bypass to the pan is preferable?
