Bad weather slows the third day at Valencia

    Wednesday, 03 March 2010

Few riders took to the track for the early session at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, with Anthony West confirming his skill at riding in wet conditions.

Anthony West (MZ Racing) continued to prove his talent at dealing with wet conditions by setting the best time of a wet early session at Valencia on Wednesday, as he registered a fastest lap time of 1’51.543 from 25 laps and underlined his claim for a place on the 2010 Moto2 grid.

With a selection of other riders waiting for better conditions in the afternoon, former 125cc riders Simone Corsi and Andrea Iannone took the chance to complete further time on their Moto2 machines. They placed second and fourth respectively, with Gabor Talmacsi third quickest.

Niccolò Canepa (Scot Racing), Robertino Pietri (Italtrans STR) and Vincent Lonbois (Marc VDS Racing) completed the Moto2 riders on track. Pietri and 125cc rider Jasper Iwema suffered falls in the mixed session, and both were uninjured.

Many Moto2 riders have already decided to leave the circuit due to the conditions, with a low level of activity expected in the second and final session.
