World Of Outlaws Draws Large TV Audience

CONCORD, N.C. (May 30, 2008) — The May 23 three-hour, 2008 live debut of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on SPEED earned a Nielsen household rating of 0.62 [447,000 households], peaking at 0.72 (520,000households), making it one of the network’s highest-rated programs during Memorial Day weekend.

The biggest single-event World of Outlaws television audience in recent years — 643,000 total viewers — saw Lance Dewease capture the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws event broadcast live from The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, which also was filled to capacity. Combined with a re-airing of the broadcast shortly after the original show, nearly three-quarters of a million people watched the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series that night.

With aerial video from a Goodyear Blimp to mud-splattering views from an in-car camera to on-track interviews with the top drivers only three laps from the checkered flag, the Rite Aid Outlaw Showdown provided a thrilling way to launch the 2008 World of Outlaws television season on SPEED. There are 25 hours of coverage this year on SPEED, including five super-sized events, to show viewers Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

“We were excited to have such a big crowd fill The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday night [May 23], and equally thrilled to learn that almost three-quarters of a million viewers tuned in to watch the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on SPEED,” World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter said. “We also are pleased that our corporate partners can see a return on their investment in our series after only one TV event. With added promotional support from SPEED, we expect strong ratings to continue throughout the year.”
