Jake Crum Picks Up Second Coastal Plains Raceway Victory

Jacksonville, S.C. (June 21, 2008) – In what has already been a phenomenal start to the 2008 season, Jake “The Snake” Crum returned to the site of his first Late Model win on Saturday night and brought home his second victory of the season at Coastal Plains Raceway.

The victory made Crum the first repeat winner in the UARA-StarsLate Model Series this year.

Once again, rain played a small part in the day. But luckily, the rain quit by early afternoon and washed out only one practice session. Once practice began, Crum ran the quickest lap times, coming within two-tenths of the track record, however, he ended up with the second quickest lap in qualifying.

The weather continued to cooperate, making it a perfect night for racing. Crum's outside front row starting position resulted in him being freight-trained on the inside at the race's beginning. Once he finally found a spot to settle in, he found himself in sixth. Crum then focused on making his way to the front. He maneuvered his way through traffic to second, but following a restart midway through the race, dropped to fifth after realizing
a driver error.

“I left the brake fans on,” the young driver explained. “It cooled the tires off too much and I just slid back.”

Once Crum got heat into his tires, he again began picking off cars one by one., maneuvering his way into third. While Crum was riding comfortably in third, trying to find a way to get to the lead, the two front-runners got into each other and wrecked. Crum managed to slip by them without any damage and pull off the victory.

“I really couldn’t ask for a better season,” the driver of the No. 1 Made in Multiples/Fatz Café Chevrolet commented. “I am just having such a great time this year. I really need to thank all of my sponsors and my crew. Just everyone that has stuck with me.”

Crum's second victory at Coastal Plains Raceway is his third career Late Model win. Crum continues to lead the series by 60 points. Next on Team Crum Racing's schedule is Bristol Motor Speedway on July 5.
