Busch Announces 'Ride With Kurt For The Kids' Fundraiser

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 17, 2007) – Kurt Busch announced Friday he will host two exciting fundraising events that will allow his fans to purchase a “Ride with Kurt for the Kids”.

Busch, the 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup champion, will take the first 30 people at each track who make a $2,000 donation to the Kurt Busch Foundation for a high-speed ride around Lowe’s Motor Speedway or Las Vegas Motor Speedway. These high-speed, white-knuckle rides with Busch behind the wheel will be in a special NASCAR NEXTEL Cup-style car provided by event sponsor – the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

“How cool is this going to be?” Busch asked enthusiastically.

“First of all, I need to thank all of the people at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. They are donating all of their resources and equipment, but most importantly their time. I need to also thank Lowe's Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway for donating their fantastic facilities and support staff. This is just one of many exciting and unique fundraisers that the Kurt Busch Foundation will organize that allows us to involve our fans and continue our mission of giving back.”

These events will be extremely limited, so each participant will get the opportunity to spend time with Busch. At each of these two great race tracks, 30 people will get to “Ride with Kurt for the Kids”, 120 people will get to ride with Richard Petty instructors, and an additional 50 will be allowed to attend as event supporters. Each of the 200 participants will receive an autographed 1/24-scale Kurt Busch die-cast, a T-shirt, dinner, the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, plus photos, autographs and a meet-and-greet with Busch. Doug Rice, co-host of PRN’s "Fast Talk", will donate his time and talents to “call the event”, as well as handle master of ceremony duties, moderate a Q&A session, and assist with the auction.

Busch's Foundation is making a $1.3 million donation to the Victory Junction Gang Camp to build the climate-controlled Kurt Busch Superdome.
Construction is underway on the new 28,000-square-foot facility, which will allow those attending camp to play sports in a climate-controlled atmosphere that some of the children require due to their medical conditions. Busch said it was the first stage of the Kurt Busch Foundation, an organization founded to provide benefits for children through sports. The dome will have space for sports such as soccer, golf, baseball, and archery.

"I want to make everyone aware of how important this is to me," Busch said. “This is an oasis of hope, love and excitement - a true miracle for needy children."
*
Kyle and Pattie Petty, founders of the camp, said Busch had visited the camp more than any other top NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver.
*
"A lot of these kids never have had an opportunity to play sports, never had a chance to be a part of a team activity," Kyle said. "When Kurt came to Pattie and started talking about this, we realized this is what the Kurt Busch Foundation is all about; teamwork and teaching sportsmanship."
