LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 2, 2008) – An issue found on Carl Edwards' Ford during post-race inspection Sunday following the UAW-Dodge 400 has resulted in his car being confiscated by NASCAR and taken to its research and development center in Concord, N.C.
NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said the lid on the oil tank box was found off of it.
At Daytona during Speedweeks, five Nationwide Series teams were found to have the same violation. They were each fined $15,000, penalized 25 points and the crew chiefs suspended for six races.
NASCAR officials will determine whether to issue any penalties after thoroughly examining the car.
