A Quick Look At Qualifying For The UAW-Dodge 400
- Kyle Busch earned the pole in his Toyota with a lap of 182.352 mph, 29.613 seconds. It was the third career pole of his NASCAR Cup career.
- Earning the outside front row starting position was Carl Edwards in a Ford. His lap of 181.586 mph, 29.738 seconds, was 0.125 second behind Busch.
- Mark Martin drove the top qualifying Chevrolet. He earned the third starting position with a 181.293-mph, 29.786-second lap.
- Kurt Busch led the Dodge contingent, claiming the ninth starting position. His lap of 180.777 mph, 29.871 seconds, was 0.258-second off the pole pace.
- Mike Skinner was the highest qualifying driver who had to make the race on time. Skinner, driving a Toyota, claimed the fifth starting position with a 181.117-mph, 29.815-second lap.
- Patrick Carpentier was the top qualifying rookie. He nailed down the 10th starting position in his Dodge with a lap of 180.608 mph, 29.899 seconds.
- Those failing to qualify for the race were A.J. Allmendinger, Joe Nemechek, John Andretti and Johnny Sauter.
