Rudd Won't Compete At Richmond Due To Injury

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 4, 2007) – Ricky Rudd won't compete in Saturday's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway due to the left shoulder separation he suffered in last weekend's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race at California Speedway.

It is the first time Rudd, who made his 900th career start at California, will miss a race due to an injury. Kenny Wallace will substitute for the veteran driver in the No. 88 Snickers Ford. The Virginia native will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis to determine when the 50-year-old Rudd can return to competition.

The multi-car accident in which Rudd suffered his injury occurred on lap 181 of the 250- lap Sharp AQUOS 500 at the 2-mile track. Rudd's Ford slammed the wall on the driver's side, briefly knocking him unconscious.
