Petty Enterprises Announces Its Driver Lineup For The Next 3 Weeks

Mooresville, N.C. (July 29, 2008) – During the next three weeks, Chad McCumbee, Kyle Petty and Terry Labonte will each compete in one event in the No. 45 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Dodge fielded by Petty Enterprises.

McCumbee, 23, will attempt to make his first Sprint Cup start this season this weekend at Pocono Raceway. He made his Sprint Cup debut at Pocono in June 2007 and finished 25th, one day after winning the ARCA RE/MAX Series race. McCumbee currently competes full-time in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series where he is 12th in points.

Petty returns to the seat of the No. 45 Dodge for the Aug. 10 Watkins Glen event. This will be the first start for Petty since the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May. His hiatus included a six-race stint in the TNT Sports booth where he provided color commentary for the Sprint Cup Series.

Two-time NASCAR Cup champion Labonte, who has competed in seven races in the No. 45 Dodge this season, will make his eighth start at Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 17. During his career, he has produced seven top-fives, 13 top-10s and two poles at Michigan.

“Chad, Kyle and Terry will be competing at places where they have all had success in the past,” said Petty Enterprises Vice President of Race Operations Robbie Loomis. “That should put the No. 45 team in the best position possible to gain points on the teams in front of us in owner points. Everyone at Petty Enterprises is committed to doing whatever it takes to get this team back inside the top 35. That is one of our highest priorities as an organization.”
