LIBERTY, Ind. (May 16, 2008) – With an off-night from ARCA racing activities, Patrick Sheltra headed to Union County Speedway, hoping to secure his first dirt track victory this season, and he succeeded in spectacular fashion, leading all but five laps of his 30-lap feature on Friday.
Sheltra, driving his camouflaged Chevrolet Monte Carlo started third and quickly sought the two front-runners before overtaking them early in the run. Sheltra kept his competition at bay to score his first major triumph of the 2008 season.
“This is awesome,” Sheltra said. “I have to thank my entire dirt team for all of their hard work. We had a great night and a strong car. Hopefully, tonight’s victory can lead into a much bigger win in Sunday’s ARCA race.”
Earlier Friday night, Sheltra advanced to the feature after finishing second in his heat.
After the victory, Sheltra drove overnight to Toledo, Ohio, to being preparations for Sunday's Hantz Group 200 by Federated Car Care ARCA event.
