the 3 center mains looked terrible.the 3 center main caps were changed on the block. the block was then align honed. all other bearings looked like new!!! i was running the moroso racing pump(not a high volume unit). upon complete teardown we noticed that threre were spots in the main caps where the stone never touched. maybe the block should have been line-bored??? i decided to just start over with another block. the guy who did the original align hone has quit and moved on. the new block is at a different shop. what have you seen with the cola cranks???? i would hate to put this all back together and have more problems!!! |

The one that got the question started was a 434 that would trash rod bearings about every 5 to 7 runs, after several rod resizes and the rods being replaced a time or two they found that some of the oil holes in the crank where not drilled or not correctly, so take the time to inspect all the oil passages in the crank to make sure they are correct.
Through out the time of all this the engine changed hands and one person assumed it was a rod problem that the other person had just over looked or over reved the engine, that is why it went over looked for so long. Then along the way we started hearing other Cola storys that matched. Cola built very nice cranks but apperently along the way they had a bad run or a bad quality control issue.
