Newbie Here! Hi everybody

Hi newbie here just thought id say hi to everybody,David Wrote an excelent artical in PHR recently about a blower motor i built ,i had the pleasure of talking with David on the phone and David told me about the GFN board and invited me to join, but time has been tight and we have been chasing a championship in the PSCA Outlaw 10.5 class, which by the way Dave we nailed !!!

My name is Andy im from the same side of the pond as Dave but have lived in Upland SoCal for the last 7 years (dont miss the drissel and fog.lol.) i own Outlaw Racing Engines and design/machine/build Pontiacs (Traditional Ponchos 65-79) and BBC's although we do most anything Ford, buick, olds and Mopar ect.

After looking around the board i can see there is a lot of info shared and look forward to learning from you all and hopefully i can contribute something to you too maybe some Pontiac Tech if anyone here runs one.

Thanks Dave and everybody in advance

My dad used to drive a '69 Bonneville and said it had good torque and got really good mileage, ~23mpg on the highway in a boat of a car. I was just wondering what makes that engine so special. IIRC, I saw a pic of a 428 cylinder head and it had a bunch of dimples in the chamber...

According to this the standard Bonneville 428 was 360 hp, though I don't know at what RPM.

New

Andy,
Welcome to GFN. David Vizard has been my Guru since the 70's. I've been fortunate to meet his family when he was living in SoCal. We went to dinner, then drank tea at his home until the wee hours of the morning. (David, I really caught hell from my wife that night for being so late).

If you ever get the chance to attend one of his lectures by all means don't pass it up. He has the answers before most of us have thought of the questions.

Ron

Welcome to GFN

We are looking forward to your posts.

You are located in an area rich in racing history.

Pomona, Ontario, and Riverside stand out in my memories.

The 428 is just a good torque/rpm combination it has a 4.120 bore and a stroke of 4.000,the CR is 10.5:1 and has cast # 62 head (sometimes #48) which has a 2.11 intake and a 1.77 exhaust valve, heads stock flow around 230/160 cfm, factory power was conservative rated at 360HP at around 5000 RPM.

That is good mileage for that 4400 lb big Poncho,i have a 62 Catalina its only 2800 lbs as its a chassis car,we are building a 565ci engines using the IA11 alum block4.350 bore and Billet 4.750 stroke crank and Tiger heads, see pic
