Holley inks three-year deal to continue as sponsor of NHRA Hot Rod Reunion

The highly successful partnership between Holley Performance Products and the NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion will continue for at least three more years. Thanks to a new deal, Holley will remain the title sponsor of the popular event, retaining the naming rights. Holley has been the Reunion's main sponsor since it first came to Bowling Green, Ky., six years ago. This year's edition is set for Father's Day Weekend, June 13-15 at Beech Bend Park.

“It's always been called the Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion and I'm happy to report that it will continue to be so named for the future,” said Tony Thacker, executive director of the nonprofit Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, producers of the Reunion. “Holley is headquartered in Bowling Green and the ideal sponsor for the Reunion. I'm glad our relationship continues to grow.”

Bill Tichenor, marketing manager at Holley, agreed. “The Reunion means a lot to Bowling Green and a lot to us. The fans that go to the Reunion are our customers, so it's a perfect fit for us. It's an event we look forward to being a part of for a long time.”

The announcement was made at a recent press conference at the Holley plant, which featured a who's who of Bowling Green and Warren County, including Mayor Elaine Walker, Judge Mike Buchanan and Vicki Fitch, executive director of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). The message from city and county officials was loud and clear: “Welcome back to Bowling Green, Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion!”

Said Fitch, executive director of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB):“We're not just welcoming back any event; this is Bowling Green's biggest event.” The 3-day event brings in about $4 million to the local economy.

Also speaking at the press conference was Shane Weckerly, Holley's director of product management and Thacker. Drag racing icon “Big Daddy” Don Garlits was also on hand. Garlits told the crowd of his fondness for Beech Bench Park, site of the Reunion, and looked forward to being at the Father's Day weekend event. He signed posters, posed for pictures and shook hands for scores of fans.

At the press conference, the CVB, Bowling Green Area Lodging Association and South Central Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association, announced they are sponsoring the June 13 Reunion Honorees reception and party at the Sloan Convention Center.
