A Quick Look At Qualifying For The Aaron's 312

  • Tony Stewart won his second Nationwide Series pole this season and his first at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday. Driving his Old Spice Toyota, Stewart posted a lap of 185.308 mph, 51.676 seconds, on the 2.66-mile track. His other pole this year came at Daytona in the season opener.

  • Stewart now has six poles in 82 career NASCAR Nationwide Series events, and five top-10 starts in as many races this year.

  • Prior to earning this pole, Stewart's best start at Talladega had been ninth in 1998.

  • Mike Bliss, driving the Miccosukee Resorts Chevrolet, claimed the outside front row starting position with a lap of 51.745 seconds, 185.061 mph. It is his third top-10 start and career-best in four races at Talladega. This ties his season-best start at Nashville.

  • Jason Leffler rounded out the top three in his Great Clips Toyota. He earned his third top-10 start in five Talladega races and tied his best qualifying effort with a 51.768-second, 184.979-mph lap.

  • Dario Franchitti was the top qualifying rookie with the fourth fastest lap. His Fastenal Dodge was clocked at 51.809 seconds, 184.833 mph.

  • No Ford driver qualified in the top 10. Carl Edwards was the top qualifying Ford with the 11th fastest lap. His Save-a-Lot Ford recorded a 52.002-second, 184.147-mph lap.

  • Everyone who attempted to qualify for Saturday's race made the 43-car field.
