A Quick Look At Qualifying For The Sam's Town 300

  • Brian Vickers made it an all-Toyota pole weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as he earned the top starting position for Saturday's Sam's Town 300, a day after Kyle Busch's Toyota claimed the No. 1 starting spot for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Vickers posted a lap of 181.708 mph, 29.718 seconds.

  • In winning the Coors Light Pole Award, Vickers broke the track record of 181.111 mph, 29.816 seconds, set by Kevin Harvick in March 2007. It was Vickers' second pole in the Nationwide Series, but his first at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas track.

  • Jeff Burton earned the other front-row starting position in a Chevrolet with a 180.832-mph, 29.862-second lap.

  • Toyota drivers claimed four of the top five starting positions. In addition to Vickers, Kyle Busch qualified third, Tony Stewart fourth and David Reutimann fifth. Busch was the quickest driver who had to make the grid on speed. However, Busch wrecked on his second qualifying lap and had to go to a backup car.

  • Rookie Dario Franchitti drove the top-qualifying Dodge, taking the sixth position on the grid with a 179.659-mph, 30.057-second lap.

  • Australian Marcos Ambrose led the Ford contingent. He will start seventh. Ambrose recorded a 179.617-mph, 30.064-second lap.

  • Failing to qualify for the race were Sam Hornish Jr. and Mike Harmon.
