A Look At Qualifying For The Camping World 300
- Tony Stewart won the pole with a lap of 49.741 seconds, 180.937 mph, in his Armor All Toyota. It was his fifth pole in 78 career NASCAR Nationwide Series races, but his first in eight events at Daytona International Speedway.
- Clint Bowyer's BB&T Chevrolet earned the outside front row starting position with a 49.972-second, 180.101-mph lap. This is Bowyer's sixth top-10 start in seven races at the 2.5-mile track.
- Dario Franchitti, the first European to race full time in NASCAR, was the fastest qualifying rookie, nailing down the fourth starting position. His Fastenal Dodge posted a 50.084-second, 179.698-second lap.
- Three of the top-five drivers are piloting Toyotas. In addition to Stewart, Jason Leffler qualified third and Kyle Busch was fifth.
- The top qualifying Ford was driven by Matt Kenseth, who was 14th quickest with a lap of 50.270 seconds, 179.033 mph.
- In the top 10, there are four Toyotas, four Chevrolets, and two Dodges. Overall, there are 19 Chevrolets in the field, 10 Fords, eight Toyotas and six Dodges.
- Failing to qualify for the race were Danny O'Quinn Jr., Morgan Shepherd, Larry Gunselman, Kenny Wallace, Kevin Lepage, Joe Nemechek, Donnie Neuenberger, Brett Rowe, Mike Harmon, and Kertus Davis.
