Heavlow Dominates Michigan Kart Supply Nationals
SHERIDAN, Ill. – Jimmy Heavlow has proven he's a force to be reckoned with in the World Karting Association, clinching two national titles during the recent Michigan Kart Supply Nationals.
Heavlow raced in four different classes throughout the weekend of Aug. 25-26, taking home two first-place trophies and a pair of third-place finishes. On Aug. 25, Heavlow finished third in the Briggs Junior Restricted Lite and the Briggs Junior Restricted Heavy classes. He returned on Aug. 26 to win the Briggs Junior Lite and the Briggs Junior Heavy, which, in turn, clinched his two national titles in those classes. He also qualified on the pole for two of his four races that weekend.
The 14-year-old Heavlow has now racked up seven national titles in 12 starts, and of the finishes that did not end in victory lane, he placed in the top three.
In addition to his successful season in the karts, the Galena, Md., native also participated in the Summer Shootout at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, competing in the Legends Young Lions division. Although he may not have been quite as successful in his Legends car, he still finished in the top 10 in five of his nine starts in the No. 3 Mercury Marine machine.
