Is Danica Patrick a talented driver or an opportunist?

Absolutely!!!!! Go for it, Girl.

Ride the "wave" of success and popularity until it hits the "beach",
then paddle back out and catch another wave. yehaw!

im a little confused (no change there)...
not knowing a great deal about this racing type ,is the run down of danicas wins top 10's etc and general record driving wise ,a good record or a bad one ?
it sounds quite impressive , but lindsay ,you say that if a chap were to achieve those results ,hed be out on his ear and a new driver would be in there ,so am i to assume that her record is really pretty bad ?
i think this is reallly the key ,whether she is in it for her ability or her physical appeal , have male drivers with her record been dropped in the past ,and were they at the same experience level ,,eg were they at the beginning of thier career ,and learning ,or at the end and on the way out ,so time for some fresh blood sort of thing .

regards
robert

I am so glad many of you commented on this story. Danika is like anyone else in the world, driven by ego. When drivers say that they are in the "Lowes" car, do you really think it is because of ther love? Heck no, their love may have started their career but most likely it is the love of money.

I too love money and that is why I post on this board. I am not saying if I did not get paid I would not post but let's face it most people do what they get paid to do not what they love. A long time ago I competed in a couple world championships and I loved every minute of it but it did not pay. I actually had to pay for the equipment, travel and meals.

Then reality set in and I had to pay bills! Danika is no different. She is pretty but she is not a model. She is a good driver but not a great one. She is a good marketing person but she is no Jeff Gordon. She what does all that mean?

When you add it all up the people that pay her get a positive return on their investment when it come to her. When a driver is good but can't speak in infront of the camera and is cross eyed how long do you really think he will be on the track.

So were there men that got dumped because they were not as profitable for their sponsors? You bet! It is just like this site, am I a great writer? No! Am I a great model? No I am too short to be a Cristie Brinkley. Am I good at promoting the site? Probably a little above average. So the owners of the site look at what I bring to the table and figure I give more return then they give payment! So I get to stay an extra week.

The day I stop producing I am gone. That is life and in this economy it is more frequent then ever. So is Danika an opportunist? HELL YES, but wait what is the definition of an opportunist? Wikipedia.org says "a trend of thought, or a political tendency, seeking to make political capital out of situations with the main aim being that of gaining more influence or support, instead of truly winning people over to a principled position or improving their political understanding."

So Danika goes 30 races without a win, then appears on the cover of FHM. 5,000 people that have never watched an IRL race buy her shirts or hats or watch the race. So is she a good "deal?" Apparently she is a great deal because she is paid very well and is still in a car!

We are all opportunists! Who here has never made a mistake and then kissed someones butt to try to make the blow of your mistake easier? That is being an opportunist.

Lets talk about Robbie Gordon for a second. Am I missing something or is he a bad investment? Also I think he may be adopted!!!!!!!

You are not being paid for writing expertise!

Work on your writing as beauty is a trapping of the young!

Will your beauty survive your naive view of the world?

GFN members clearly do not post for the money!

Money changes everything! Think about it!
