ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (April 23, 2008) – Ricky Rudd is the United Way of Richmond County/Fast Track High Performance Driving School “chauffeur” for the lucky winner of the track's charity auction, speedway owner Andy Hillenburg announced Wednesday.
On the race's pace laps, Rudd will drive a special two-seat race car that will allow the auction winner to put on a driver's suit, helmet, HANS device and roll-off with the 50 cars starting the Carolina 500.
Rudd and his passenger will follow the field during the pace laps before pulling onto pit road when the one-to-go signal is given. The winning bidder will attend the drivers meeting, be announced at driver introductions and receive two passes to a track suite.
“Andy’s got a lot of good things going on at Rockingham Speedway,” Rudd said. “This is a great cause above-and-beyond all the things the track has going on and I am happy to be able to do my part.”
All proceeds from the auction go to the United Way of Richmond County and the 18 local agencies it supports.
The deadline for the winning bid has been extended to April 30 to accommodate new fans wishing to bid for the enhanced race day experience. To bid on this incredible opportunity, e-mail Rockingham Speedway at
