Exhaust header, 321 cid GMC inline 6

I'm building a 1950's style dragster powered by an inline 6 cylinder 1952 GMC. The car is based opon the first dragster ever to run down the drag strip. The actual first dragster is now in the Peterson Museum and is called "The Bug". There is quite a movement across the country with several of these cars being built. In fact there are about 12 running in Australia already. Most of the cars are underpowered with various inline 6 cylinder engines. There are several running with flathead Ford V8's.

Being somewhat of a gearhead and wanting to be the fastest I picked the GMC for several reasons. However, the intake on the GMC is 3 simease pairs and the exhaust is 4 ports with cylinders 2&3 simeased and 3&4 simeased with cylinders 1 & 6 seperate ports.

How do I build an exhaust header that will let me make the most power? I've read Philip H. Smith's book on intake and exhaust systems and read everything I can find on the web but I still don't feel I have a handle on it.

I know David has built inline engines with simease intake/exhaust systems and I assume others have as well.

Any information will certainly be appreciated.

Ron

Ron,
You never did pick anything that's easy to do. Here's the problem with relating it to the original 5 port mini heads. The firing spacing is different so not all the tuning tricks will transfer over quite as you might expect. Let see if someone out there has more to add from ecxperience instead of guesswork

GMC exhaust

David,
I think you right about me picking difficult projects. That's what my wife tells me all the time. I hope there's someone out there that's solved the exhaust situation on siamese ports.

Cammer,
Thanks for the link. I'll try to find someone there that's solved the problem.
