CONCORD, N.C. – Venturini Motorsports has teamed with ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Joey Logano for the upcoming Carolina 500 at Rockingham Speedway.
Logano, 17, is a development driver under the Joe Gibbs Racing banner.
“Since the Toledo race last year, we’ve been working with J.D. Gibbs from Joe Gibbs Racing to try and help their new, up-and-coming drivers gain some experience in the bigger ARCA RE/MAX Series cars,” series veteran driver Billy Venturini said. “To know that Gibbs feels confident enough in our ARCA racing program to send Joey our way is an honor.
“We’ve [Venturini Motorsports] worked really hard over the winter months in an effort to make our program stronger. We purchased five more Gibbs Racing Chevrolets and a DEI Chevy, bringing our total prepared cars to 16, along with some engines. The engine program for Rockingham will be supplied by Pro-Motor Engineering.”
Logano, already an accomplished racer in the USAR Pro-Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Series, will make his career-first ARCA RE/MAX Series attempt in the May 4 Carolina 500 at Rockingham Speedway. Logano also is scheduled to participate in the two-day ARCA RE/MAX Series open test at Rockingham March 21-22.
“I’m just really looking forward to getting back in a race car,” Logano said. “To be partnered with such a great racing family as the Venturinis has me real excited about testing this week at Rockingham. And to have the opportunity to race at Rockingham in May is a dream come true. I’m just very excited about the whole program and all the opportunity in front of me.”
Two-time ARCA RE/MAX Series national driving champion Bill Venturini is excited about bringing up-and-coming talent through the ranks under the Venturini Motorsports banner.
“We’ve been working our way to get to this point in our racing program since last year,” the elder Venturini said. “Billy [Bill’s son] has really stepped up as the key to making this happen. Bringing good, young talent into our shop with the proper funding so we can run very competitively is what our program is all about. With the rising cost to race today, Billy has stepped out of the driver’s seat and become the crew chief, and a darn good one at that.”
