Instructions for Posting Images to be Used on the Message Board

Please read through this once before trying it and then try to upload something. If you run into any issues please let me know.

• Gather the images you want to use.
• Name the files with no space, capitals, or funny characters.
• JPG images are the best for anything online that is not a button or logo so please make sure you images are JPG format.
• If you are uploading for different stories then on your local computer create separate directories. For instance I would create a directory for each story and if it is an image you are going to use over and over (like your logo) then create a general folder and put said image in there.
• Go to gofastnews.com
• Login, if it says “Welcome YourName” then you are logged in already.
• Click on the “Photo and Video Gallery” link at the top of the page.
• Click on the “My Albums” link at the left.
• Create the Album to mirror the directories you created on your local computer.
  • Album Name: What ever you want to put as the name
  • Album Description: What ever you want to put as the name
  • Private: Only if you don’t want others to see it but then why put it online?
• Now you should see a page that shows you the newly created album
• Click on the “Upload Photos” link at the right.
• Now you are on the upload page. This is very important if you want your image to be displayed correctly. Here are the options:
  • Choose a category to upload your images to. Pick a category that relates most to your image(s): This option does not matter if you are uploading to an album.
  • or if you would prefer to upload to one of your albums, select one here: This is where you MUST select your Album.
  • Select the photos you wish to upload from your computer: Click the Browse button and browse to your local directory and file you wish to upload.
  • Enter a default title for the photo(s) you are uploading. If you are uploading more than one photo, you will be able to change this on the next page for each photo: Titles are very important as they help the Message Board users find your image.
  • Enter a description for the photo(s): Equally as important as the title field. Say something about the image. This is not the place to add a caption if using the image in a story.
  • Keywords: This is the MOST important for your image being seen. The keyword field will be used in not only the GoFastNews.com search engines but all world wide search engines (google.com, yahoo.com) so please use your words wisely and seperate each keyword with a comma.
  • Click Submit
• Now you should see your picture.
• Look in the address bar at the top of your page. It should look like this: "http://www.gofastnews.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=17&cat=YOUR_ALBUM_NUMBER"
• The only difference is that instead of "YOUR_ALBUM_NUMBER" you will actually have a number.
• Write that number down because you will need it later. You can always find the number by returning to your gallery at any time.
• Now that you have an image uploaded you can repeat these steps and add as many as you need for your story, post or just for fun.
• If you are ready to pos in the message board then click the "MessageBoard" link at the top.
• Go to the forum you want to post in and start a new thread.
• Once in the thread you will see an icon at the top that is yellow and looks like a hill with a sun in the top right cornor (actually that is exactly what it is, Microsoft borrowed it from the camera manufacturers since may photographers were use to seeing either this image or one of a rose. The images on cameras were to select the macro mode you wanted. Wonder why they did not use the rose? Anyway back to the instructions), if you hold your mouse over it with out clicking it should say "Insert Image". Click it!
• A small box should now appear with "http://" already in the form field.
• You want to type the following "http://www.gofastnews.com/photos/data/YOUR_ALBUM_NUMBER/YOUR IMAGE NAME.jpg"
• Make sure you put the correct album number and image name in this field. There should be no spaces!
• You are done! Hit preview post to see if it worked.
• If it did, good job! If it did not then email me!
