Block prep on 408 stroker

David,
I've been a proponent of long stroke engines a long time now. I run 3.75 stroke 406's in my street cars. I am currently working on a 415 utilizing a reground stock 400 crank. I was very interested in the article about the 4" stroke engine using a production block.
My question concerns the grinding necessary to clearance the block. You stated that only a certain number of blocks will work due to the amount of grinding necessary and the fact you will hit a water jacket. Why couldn't you fill the lowest 1-2" of the water jacket with block stiffener, so even if you did break through it wouldn't leak?
Thanks
Rick
