Eliminator Heads
I just completed an update to an engine for a friend. It is a ZZ383 crate engine. We used the AFR 1040 head with the CNC port. We had the heads prepped by Gilbert Chevy, the source of the ZZ383, with their angle mill to a chamber of 58 cc. We added a custom ground Crower hyd rolller, the rev kit and 1.6 Comp rollers to complete the valve train. We used a Super Victor intake and 850 Carb Shop prepped carb.
The engine idles at 750 with a minor amount of burble in it. Sorry no dyno numbers. This was an in car update. The car is raced, so some mph comparisons can give us a clue as to where we are. The racing radials are no match for the new engine. Good thing he has a rev limiter!
I look forward to seeing what the experts come up with by comparison.
OBTW, David I have read with interest your articles over the many years of doing this. I kept many issues of SS&DI just for the tech stuff inside. I made the mistake of loaning one issue out. The guy wanted to see how to make the wave cancellation boxes used in the muffler comparison article. He went on to pitch the issue after he read it. Now I don't have the handy little formula for converting the cfm on the exhaust side. I am just glad I found this site.
